Minicourse on Applied Inverse Problems  
Firenze, October 7-11, 2002


As part of the project Problemi di identificazione ed applicazioni of the Gruppo Nazionale di Analisi Matematica, Probabilità e Applicazioni (INdAM), the Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo (Sezione di Firenze) is organizing a Minicourse on Applied Inverse Problems.

The minicourse will take place in the Dipartimento di Matematica e Applicazioni per l'Architettura (DMAA) in Piazza Ghiberti, 27 in Firenze.

The minicourse will be especially devoted to young researchers focusing in up-to-date topics in Applied Inverse Problems and will consist of three cycles of lectures of 5 hours each and 2 afternoon sessions.

9:30-10:20  Lars Eldén (Linköping University).
 Numerical solutions to Cauchy problems in parabolic and elliptic equations.
10:30-11:20  William Rundell (Texas A&M University).
 Reconstruction methods in inverse eigenvalue problems and in inverse scattering.
11:50-12:40  Erkki Somersalo (Helsinki University of Technology).
  Statistical methods in inverse problems.
Afternoon sessions

 Tomography and Nuclear Medicine
  Paolo G. Bison (ITC - CNR)
 Some applications of Infrared Thermography to Thermal Non Destructive Testing
